My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with an exceptional doula who completely exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we met Katrina Goodman, we knew we had found someone truly special. Her commitment to the safety and well-being of both myself and our baby was unwavering, and her knowledge and relationships within the medical arena of birthing were truly remarkable.

One of the things that struck us most about this doula was her availability. No matter the time of day or night, she was always there for me. Whether it was answering my countless questions, providing reassurance during moments of doubt, or simply offering a listening ear, she made herself readily available throughout the entire journey. This level of commitment and support meant the world to us and gave us the peace of mind we needed during such an important and transformative time in our life.

What truly set Katrina apart, however, was her incredible spirit. She had a calming yet empowering presence that instantly put me at ease. Her ability to coach and guide me through the birthing process was truly remarkable. With her by my side, I felt a renewed sense of confidence and strength. She believed in my ability to bring our child into the world and her unwavering support made all the difference.

Not only was she a fantastic coach, but she also provided invaluable insights and recommendations throughout my pregnancy and delivery. Her knowledge and expertise were evident in every conversation we had. She had a way of explaining things that made complex concepts easy to understand, and her recommendations were always thoughtful and well-informed. We felt empowered and informed every step of the way, thanks to her passion for her work and her dedication to staying up-to-date with the latest research and practices.

It’s clear that Katrina is incredibly passionate about her role. Her genuine love for being a doula shines through in everything she does. It’s not just a job for her; it’s a calling. This passion is infectious and it made me even more excited and motivated about my own birthing experience. I truly believe that her passion and dedication to her craft are what make her such an exceptional doula.

Working with Katrina was an absolute blessing. Her understanding of the importance of safety, her strong relationships within the medical community, her availability, calming yet empowering spirit, her coaching abilities, reassuring nature, insightful recommendations, and passionate approach to being a doula are unmatched. My husband and I, are forever grateful for her support and guidance during this incredible journey. If you’re looking for a doula who goes above and beyond, I cannot recommend her highly enough.

She will definitely be part of our journey with baby #2!

I have now welcomed Katrina to both of my deliveries. Both experiences were very different – one a traditional hospital birth the other a home birth with breech presentation. The first time around her support was very hands on and physical. She helped reposition my daughter to get labor progressing. At my son’s birth there wasn’t much time for hands on. Her support was in the form of her knowledge and experience. When our midwife was not supportive of our birth plan, she used her connections to put us in touch with a home birth midwife in our community.

Katrina patiently answered all my questions and her support was invaluable. Should we choose to grow our family again in the future, I will absolutely be reaching out to her.

Hiring a doula. I’ve heard about it throughout the years but never really paid attention to it. This time around, I wanted to do a home birth because I’ve had other deliveries, so why not try something new? Plus I had a friend that just raved about doing a home birth and just how amazing her doula (Katrina) was. Well, being the fact that I’ve never had an unmedicated birth, I needed all the support I can get. I also wanted a room of women that could read me and anticipate my needs without me having to say anything (I’ve got one of the best husbands out there, but this was way out of his league).

Having Katrina during my pregnancy and labor was a game changer. Not only was she responsive but she was confident, knowledgeable and brought me SO MUCH PEACE! She helped me to believe in myself. She gave me facts and truths which debunked my fears. Being a mom herself I was nervous about her readiness of being there for me. But from the time I sent her the first text with the first contraction, until even days after my son was born, she was there for me and I felt like I was the only person in her life.

During my labor she made sure things that I needed or would have soon wanted were provided without me even having to say anything. Her presence alone brought me so much peace and confidence. I knew I could do this and be the bad a$$ I was created to be. Her hands! Her hands have been blessed by God himself, and whatever oil she used while rubbing my achy body was just pure heaven.

Bottom line, I regret not having Katrina at all my other labors. I KNOW she would have fought for me in the hospital with my other babies and it would have taken the pressure off my husband of having to be a mind reader/fight for something that he knew nothing about. I have come from “what’s the purpose of a doula?” To “OMG! Don’t have a baby without one!”

Every expectant mother deserves a Katrina during their pregnancy and during their birthing experience, especially first time mommas or high risk mommas. I reached out to Katrina after a long history of infant loss, miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies.

Katrina has a wealth of knowledge about all things pregnancy and babies. My husband and I were better able to make well informed decisions with the information Katrina gave us. She offered information from all sides of the argument when it came to newborn shots, circumcision, birthing preparation, etc. Doctors tend to be very one sided so it’s extremely helpful to have someone who only has your best interest in mind. My husband was relieved to know that he would only have one job during my labor & delivery: to be there to support me. He didn’t have to worry about keeping up with my birth plan or making sure the doctors were honoring our wishes. Katrina really lifted a huge weight off of our shoulders.

The best part about having Katrina as our certified Doula was having someone to reach out to during those freak out moments when web MD would scare you into thinking the worst. I could text Katrina when I noticed something off during my pregnancy or when my baby wasn’t latching correctly during breastfeeding and she was always so helpful and patient with me.

We didn’t need a c-section but it’s a nice bonus to know that if we did, she would’ve been allowed in the room during the times when my husband wasn’t. She was also considered part of the birthing team so both mother and husband were still allowed to be at my labor and delivery post-COVID.

I will definitely need Katrina for all of my future pregnancies and she is the first recommendation when a friend tells me they’re expecting!

Katrina, Our hearts our full 💛 We can’t even begin to fully thank you for the role you played in this amazing experience. I literally can’t imagine trying to do that without you! You’re wonderful at what you do and we are forever thankful. You really provided the guidance it would take to do a fully unmedicated birth. Even though we were met with forks in the road during labor and decisions had to be made that were not in line with my original plan, we had the best experience under the conditions… thanks in large part to you! XO

Katrina, what a joy it was for us to have you as the doula for our birth! We truly could not have anticipated how helpful you would be to us during this exciting but challenging time. Your expertise was felt not only during labor itself but also in the days prior and even the time after birth. But what has stood out most is your friendliness, your care, and your compassion throughout this beautiful experience. You provided excellent support, and we look forward to having you assist with our future babies. We are so grateful to have found you!

Thank you for being so wonderful and for helping bring our sweet baby girl, Annaëlle Marie, into the world. Praising God we crossed paths and you were our doula! You’re the best 🙂

I hired Katrina for the birth of my third child (older 2 were born in another state.) We planned for an unmedicated, low-intervention VBAC in the hospital. Throughout my labor she was a wonderfully calm and supportive presence. I cannot have asked for a more peaceful labor. However, my son surprised all of us by crowning bottom first! I fully expected to be whisked away for an emergency C-section at that point when Katrina grabbed my hand and told me “just because this is not how it is usually done does not mean it can’t be done.” Those were the exact words I needed to hear in that moment. She helped me stay grounded and powerfully connected to my body, even as the room flooded with medical staff, and I went on to have a vaginal breech birth. I have worked with other doulas in the past, but none as intuitive as Katrina. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

It’s challenging to put into words how much Katrina’s support meant to me before, during, and after my natural labor and water birth experience, but I’m going to try. Having spoken over the phone a handful of times and meeting in person for my prenatal visit once, Katrina naturally should have felt like merely an acquaintance in the delivery room. So far from the case, she felt like a close friend who I had known and trusted for years. She brought a calming yet powerful presence of support into arguably the most intimate and vulnerable experience of my life. She is so wise and knew exactly what to do and how to encourage in times of pain and what felt like helplessness. Looking back, we can’t imagine welcoming our first child into this world alongside anyone else. Since delivery, she’s continued to support me by taking the time to answer any of my questions with an uplifting spirit of, “Give yourself grace…you and your baby are both learning.” Katrina, we love you and are so thankful for you!

Despite an”easy” pregnancy, I can’t really say I loved being pregnant. What I will say is that hands down the most empowering experience in my life was bringing our daughter into this world with the birth that I wanted. Everyone has their own idea of what they hope their delivery experience will be, and however you personally choose to go about it, you will benefit from the aid of a doula as skilled as Katrina.

Katrina’s assistance with pain management allowed my husband to freely support me emotionally without worrying about anything else. But what’s more, Katrina recognized the symptoms of poor positioning of our baby’s head that was preventing my dilation from progressing even though I was having strong contractions. She helped us get her repositioned and things immediately began to progress. After delivery, she was able to be with our daughter during her bath while my husband held my hand as I was stitched up. She also was at our house the day after we came home to help assist me with latching our daughter to breastfeed.

I really cannot sing high enough praise for Katrina. I will definitely have her present at our next delivery!!

Katrina is AMAZING!!

First, she’s a sweetheart. From the first conversation you have with her, you feel like you’re best friends. It’s comfortable talking to her about anything! Including tips on how not to “you know what” on the bed while pushing baby out. She has an effective trick for that!

Second, she’s not judgmental or pushy with her own opinions when it comes to what kind of birth experience you want to have. I had told her about my desire to have an unmedicated birth due to the fact that my first child’s birth had complications resulting from the epidural. My baby ended up becoming septic and we had to stay at the hospital for 7 days so that she could have antibiotics administered to her through IV. It was hard to watch her go through it all, I didn’t want to take a chance on the same thing happening to my second baby, so I decided to go epidural free this time. Katrina was very supportive and inspiring in helping me stick to my decision. She taught me a lot about the effects of drugs during child birth, helping me understand better what went wrong on my first birth, but without making me feel judged. She was always easy to reach for any questions I had, and was a great coach when my labor finally began, guiding and encouraging me through the whole ordeal.

Even after delivery, she has been a constant support with breastfeeding advice and consult about my own personal recovery. She’s knowledgeable and helpful, and I’m so glad to have had her help on my second time around. You truly can’t go wrong with her.

Katrina was a great fit for our family. Her natural approach to childbirth and extensive knowledge were great assets to my wife’s experience with unmedicated birth. She was approachable throughout the whole process for any questions and concerns, and at the end she was effective in guiding my wife – and myself – step-by-step through her labor pains. We’re very pleased with her work.
